Restructuring

You may have noticed my absence lately. (well, hopefully!)

There are many (positive) changes in my life lately, asking me a lot of energy.

However, I do not want to give up my blog.
But I am going to restructure it a bit.

The idea behind my blog is actually to talk about non animal tested products.
Which I will continue to do.

The animal cause stays in my soul.

But more and more, I realize that if I want to live a lifestyle which corresponds to my values, there are not only cosmetics to look at.

So I want to expand a little more the subjects on the blog.

I want to talk about a cruelty-free lifestyle in Montreal, to share my little discoveries.
I also want to talk about advancements in the animal cause.

My goal is not to be the party pooper, but to share what I know.
No graphic image will be presented.

I hope you'll enjoy my blog!

I write to you soon  :D

After Israel and EU, here comes India!

Yesterday, I forgot my cell at home, and of course a huge news got out!
I should forget my phone more often! :-)

The Humane Society International (HSI) has been working for a long time to convince India to put an end to animal testing.

here is the great news !

It will be now forbidden to use animals to test ingredients and finished products for cosmetics in India !!!

It is now MANDATORY for cosmetics brands to use alternative tests methods that don't involve any animals.

That's a victory for people fighting against animal cruelty.

The war is not won... yet!

Unlike Europe, the importation of products cruelly tested won't be illegal.
This means a brand will have the possibility to test in another country and then sell its products to Indians.

However, if you see ''made in India'', it will be cruelty-free !! (the product, not the brand)
And we all know that brands like to make their products in that kind of country since there's cheap labour there.

You may read what HSI wrote about this news here.

We must remember that the animal testing ban law in EU did not apply in one and only step.
Before March 11th, it was the same situation than in India.

That's why this new Indian law is great news.
Eventually, even imported cosmetics will have to be cruelty-free.

The rumour says that we'll have another good news Monday.
I Wonder what it might be ?

Any theory someone ?

We're capable of great things...

The more I look at mankind, the more my faith in us goes away.

Sometimes I forget that we're not all bad.
This video reminded me.

Nouveau Vegan

This year, I also want to share with you some blogs that I read.
I started with Mokajo in January, and I still recommend it to you. (It's in French)

The reason why I want to share those blogs is the same one that made me write my own blog.

There is plenty of cruelty free blogs out there, but most of them are Europeans or Americans.
Don't get me wrong, I think they're really nice to read.
But when comes the time to find the products they talk about in Quebec, it's not always available.

That's why I think it's interesting to share the Quebec blogs in order to help people from here that want to have a cruelty free lifestyle.

The blog I want to share is different than mine since it is mostly about food, but is as cruelty free as mine.

Simon shares with us his vegan lifestyle on Nouveau Vegan (in French)

He gives us his impressions about the products he buys.
He talks about recipes he tries, restaurants he gets to and even talked about a book he read lately.

He also writes often, so each time you visit his page, you know for sure you'll find a new post.
I like that!

I read his blog religiously!

I hope you will like it.
If later you look for his blog, it is included in my blog roll that you may find at the top of my blog.

Yesterday, Europe. Today, the world

After the entry into force of the law against animal testing in Europe, we must roll up our sleeves and continue the fight to ensure that tests will be prohibited anywhere in the world asap.

Here is a 37 seconds video from the Humane Society

March 11th, 2013 : The day the world became better!

Today is March 11th, 2013.
Remember that date, it is an historic day.

Now take effect a total ban on selling a product tested on animals in Europe.
Neither the ingredients nor the finished products can be tested.

I must say that this makes me very happy!

Millions of animals will be spared unnecessary suffering and all that is now past history.

However, do not lower the guard!

This law applies only in Europe.
Not in Canada, not in USA.

Not in China.
In that country, animal testing is mandatory.

And do not imagine that L'Oréal & ''friends'' have not found a loophole in the law.

It ain't the brands that have to be cruelty free.
It is the products.

In other words, L'Oréal & other brands may sell a product in Europe, and another product in China.
And that's what they are doing.

Also, L'Oréal made it clear that they will continue to expand in China.

I see Europe as the first domino falling.

It is THE cosmetic market.
I'm pretty sure that the other countries will follow.

Even China has now a plan over 5 years to replace animal testing by other tests.

Let's keep hope, let's stay courageous.
The war is not over!

I'm siiiiiiiick!

I have a cold.
Or a flu.
Whatever, I don't know what's the difference.
I've been told a million of times, but my brain refuses to stok that information.

I'm siiiiick and I hate it...  :-(

But I don't feel like taking medication just because!
We all know that it is tested on animals, and the flu or colds eventually go alone.

But still...

If I look on the Internet, there are all kinds of ways to treat the flu (or cold) naturally ...

''drink some rhum and go to bed!''

''drink some grog'' (what is that sh*t ?)

There's also a mixture of ''zatar''... sounds even worse than grog!

''thyme essence in milk''

Can we have some suggestions with stuff we have at home please?

I'm sick and I have no desire to run to the store to get a product that is impossible to find!

Anyway, not sure grandma's methods are for me.

I'll just go with Jamieson.
It's cruelty free and approved by PETA !

Now, I have to go to the drugstore ... Wish me good luck ...

More than honey

As you know, is not produced by a plant or a tree

Nop, it is the honeybees that take care of that.

But did you ever asked yourself if you have cruelty free honey on your table ?

I know, you will tell me :

"What kind of question is that ?! Of course it is ! Bees can't suffer! Can they ?"

It seems they may...Recent studies show it's possible...

Honey production is now an industry.
There's no soul into industries.

Honey producers are so greedy for money, they're ready to do almost anything :

They use pesticides that cause illnesses and stress to the bees.

They cut off the queens wings and kill them every 2 years.
To make sure the hive won't go away.

Thousands of bees die because all of this.

If they were having a great life, they all would live up to 5 years old...

Do they have the same feelings than us ?
I don't think so, their lives are very different than ours.

But still, they have their own lives and "feelings".

Here is a link to recent studies on bees feelings

For me, it's maple syrup only!

You should not miss this documentary!

Bees are disappearing, it ain't a scoop.
That's what this documentary is all about.

Valentine's day doesn't need to be commercial!

I asked you on my facebook page and on my Twitter account what the lovers day mean to you.

I was expecting  ''True Love'' or ''Chocolate''

But I was told it's a way too commercial day !!!

It doesn't need to be that way !

You can give love to those who misses it the most
Animals.

By clicking here, you'll have the chance to do so on PETA's website

You may give in the name of someone else if you wish to.

There's many choices :

5$    Straw! It will help a dog living outside
10$  A toy for a lonely backyard dog
20$  Save an animal's skin
35$  Save an animal in need
50$  Save a lab animal
??$   Choose!

So, what do you think about that ?
Different than what you're used to for Valentine's day ?

March 11th, 2013 will be an historic day!

It is with great emotion that I share this news with you today :

We were waiting for an answer to know if the total ban of animal testing in Europe would be effective in March 2013 as planned.

Big cosmetics brands were trying to get a delay.

That ban forbids animal testing on finished products + ingredients, and no matter where in the world the products are manufactured.

We're talking about the cosmetics, including soap & toothpaste.

Well, it seems it is confirmed!

TOTAL BAN WON'T BE DELAYED!! IT WILL BE EFFECTIVE ON MARCH 11TH, 2013!!

Unless there's a huge turnaround, it is a victory!
A victory for lab animals.

But the fight is not over...

That ban is for Europe. There is still the rest of the world.

There is already a ban effective in Israel.
And let's be honest, Europe will influence the course of events.

But please, don't think the fight is over.
It is only a first win.

I leave you with a video.
It explains how it works in Europe.

nubar ain't on PETA's good list no more

Do you remember? I told you about nubar in the beginning of January.
If you wanna read the article, you may click here.

The brand didn't tell PETA they were expanding to China. (Oh Surprise!)

I decided to repair the mistake and advised PETA myself.
They told me they would verify the information.

Well, it is official now, nubar is off PETA's cruelty free list now.

nubar would normally appear under NovAurora

This is the reason why I respect PETA so much. They verify the information. They make sure they have the right info.

It is obvious they cannot be aware of everything.
The brands won't brag about not being cruelty free anymore. They try to keep it secret as long as possible.

That's why you must tell PETA when you know a brand has changed its politics about animal testing.
(and please, tell me too!)

We can help animals!!And NEVER close our eyes!!

The fight goes on.

MokaJo

I have discovered lately a really interesting blog ''made in Quebec''.

That website talks about the animal condition into our society.
It goes from animal testing to vegetarian restaurants without forgetting rescues and a lot more.

http://mokajo.blogspot.ca/

In fact,
MokaJo presents a cruelty free lifestyle!

The blog is in french.

Going through the blog, we get to know its author is vegan.

I am vegetarian for more than 3 years now, but I wanna go vegan in 2013.

This blog will for sure help me.

For those of you who want to lower their participation in animal suffering, this blog will provide you with a lot of good information and inspiration. At every level.

I invite you to have a look at it, it's worth it!
There is not so many blogs as well written as hers.

MAN...

Today, here is something different than what I usually publish. But I swear, it's worth it!!

A beautiful short video (3:36) that shows how human uses animals and the planet.

Don't worry, there is no difficult images to look at.

Video by Steve Cutts.
